This parameter originates from the german systems. The purpose is to provide information on the quantity or energy and nitrogen that becomes available in the rumen. A high value means that the forage deliveres relative a lot of protein in the rumen. A very low or negative value means that the forage supplies relative a lot of energy in the rumen.
